EMDR therapy in Connecticut
You don’t need to work harder—you need a new way in.
About Laura DeCapua, LMFT
I offer therapy that gives you the freedom to do the work—and feel better.
I’m a Connecticut-based therapist who works with high-achieving, insightful women who are ready to carry less and live more freely.
You’ve done the work. You’re self-aware, driven, thoughtful—and probably exhausted from trying to logic your way out of something that lives deeper than your thoughts.
I see you. I’m here to offer something different:
A way to go beyond insight.
A way to feel more steady in your body, clearer in your mind, and more rooted in who you are.
You’re here to release what you can’t out-logic
I know how hard you’ve been working.
You’ve done all the things…. read the books, did the retreats, practiced yoga, meditated, coped, breathed, pushed through.
You’ve shown up over and over again. You may have seen some improvements and yet … something still feels stuck.
You’re doing everything “right,” but the anxiety lingers.
Old patterns sneak back in—even when your brain knows better.
A memory hijacks you out of nowhere.
Your inner critic is louder than you’d like to admit.
Relationships feel hard, or distant, or draining.
You’re high-functioning on the outside—but inside, you’re just tired.
And maybe therapy hasn’t felt all that different.
You talk, reflect, gain insight—but the progress feels slow, like circling the same ground.
My Approach
I don’t believe therapy should be one-size-fits-all.
And I don’t believe real change should take forever.
In my ten years as a therapist, I followed the traditional model: weekly 50-minute sessions, often shaped by what insurance would allow.
And yes—clients made meaningful progress in that model!
But it was slow. And for some, it wasn’t quite enough to break through and see the change they were craving.
So I started asking: What if there’s another way?
What if therapy could be structured to support deeper work—without being bound by the 50-minute clock?
That’s where I began shifting into what the industry calls “intensive therapy.” I prefer to call it intentional therapy—therapy that’s shaped around your needs, your time, your goals.
We carve out longer, uninterrupted time to do the work more deeply. We customize a plan that helps you move toward meaningful change—and we do it in a way that fits the season of life you’re in.
This is about giving you freedom:
Freedom to choose how we work.
Freedom to move at a pace that works.
Freedom to meet your goals and finally live life the way you want..

My Values
Goal-Oriented
You’re not here to coast. I’ll help you get clear on what you want to shift—and we’ll keep that at the center of our work.
Intentional
Every session, whether weekly or extended, is shaped by a plan tailored to you. We don’t just “talk about it”—we work on it.
Consent-Based
You always have a voice and a choice here. Many wounds come from not being heard—therapy shouldn’t repeat that.
Human-Centered
You don’t have to be perfect here. You’re allowed to be fully human—and I’ll meet you with the same.
