about EMDR Intensives

Rethinking how to do therapy.

Therapy designed for momentum, built on your choice.

I specialize in helping motivated women move through the patterns that have kept them stuck—not just talk about them, but truly shift them. And for many of my clients, the most effective way to do that is through an EMDR intensive: a dedicated block of time (usually 3-6 hours with breaks as needed!) to focus deeply, move intentionally, and make meaningful progress without the stop-and-start rhythm of weekly therapy.

If you reach out to work with me, I’ll be thinking about how we can get you into that kind of focused space—not because it’s better, but because it has offered so many of my clients the real momentum they have been looking for.

That said, part of therapy with me is designing the format that fits you best.

Some clients jump right into an intensive.
Others start with weekly sessions to prepare their system and build the trust needed to go deeper and do an intensive.
Some use a blend—weekly support with intensive work at key points.

You won’t be pushed into a model that doesn’t feel right.
Instead, you’ll be offered options—and supported in choosing what feels doable, empowering, and aligned with your goals.

You may know what weekly therapy looks like but here’s what working intensively may look like:

    • Free 30 minute consultation:

    • No pressure to commit to anything on the call

    • You tell me a bit about what you are struggling with

    • I give feedback on options for therapy and how an intensive vs weekly work may benefit you

    • I review the logistics of an EMDR intensive

    • After registering for your intensive you will get a workbook customized to you and your treatment

    • You will fill out the workbook and send it back to me before we meet

    • The workbook begins the intention setting for the work we will do

    • I use the workbook to begin development of your personalized plan even before we meet for the in person session.

    • our chance to meet in person!

    • Review history and begin collaborating on goals and plan to bring you meaningful change

    • Comfortable, private setting

    • Regular breaks and check-ins

    • Gentle pacing that follows your needs

    • Integration periods between processing

    • Full undivided attention and support from me during our time together

    • Integration support with a follow-up session

    • Resources for continued care

    • Connection to additional support as needed

    • Plans for maintaining your progress

Intensives can transform:

A stuck feeling you can’t explain, but you know it’s holding you back

You know where your pain comes from, but the intensity hasn’t let up

A part of your story that still brings a lump to your throat

A trigger that still hijacks your nervous system

Second-guessing yourself or replaying old decisions on a loop

Second-guessing yourself or replaying old decisions on a loop

Exhaustion from holding it all together while feeling broken inside

Imagine giving yourself the gift of focused time that allows for:

Relief from long-held tension, guilt, or anxiety

Clarity around what was keeping you stuck

Confidence to make decisions that once felt impossible

Compassion for parts of yourself you used tocriticize

Freedom from stories that used to define you

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The 90 minute intake and follow up sessions may be done online. All intensive EMDR sessions are held in person at my office in Farmington, CT.

  • Traditional therapy occurs in weekly 50-60 minute sessions, offering steady, ongoing support over time. EMDR Intensives, on the other hand, provide extended, structured time for deeper processing in a shorter timeframe. Both approaches are valuable, and the choice depends on what feels right for you. If you appreciate deep, immersive work, an intensive may be a good fit. If you would like to do an intensive but may not be ready to jump in right away we can discuss doing some weekly sessions (55 min or 90 minutes) to support readiness for an intensive. If I feel like an intensive format may not be the best fit for you, I will always be honest and support you in getting to an approach and clinician to meet your needs.

  • Yes! I am happy to collaborate with your current clinician to support your healing in an intensive.

  • You don’t have to have it all figured out. If you’re feeling stuck in the emotional weight of reproductive trauma and open to trying something different, that’s often a sign that this might be worth exploring. Whatever you decide, I trust you to make the choice that is best for you. If you’re curious to learn more, I’d be happy to connect and provide additional details to support your decision. This is a space where you can take your time, ask questions, and choose what aligns with your healing.

Readiness looks different for everyone. Key indicators include:

    • Emotional stability in daily life

    • Support system in place

    • Familiarity with using coping skills effectively

    • Time and space for the intensive and recovery

    • Desire to address specific reproductive experience

  • You won’t be left alone in the middle of big emotions. EMDR intensives are designed to be deeply supportive, with plenty of time for grounding, breaks, and processing. You are always in control, and we go at a pace that feels safe for you.

  • During our consultation call, we’ll collaborate to determine the number of 3-hour EMDR intensive sessions that feel most supportive for you. I typically recommend starting with one 3-hour block after the intake session, giving you the opportunity to experience the process and decide what feels right. After that session, I’ll offer my professional recommendations based on what I see, but ultimately, the choice is yours—ensuring your healing unfolds in a way that aligns with your needs, your pace, and your intuition.

  • EMDR intensives are considered a private-pay service and are not covered by insurance, whether in-network or out-of-network.

Because these sessions are longer and structured differently than standard weekly therapy, they don’t align with typical insurance billing codes. For that reason, superbills are not available for intensive sessions.

This model gives us the freedom to work in a more focused, efficient way—guided by what supports your healing and individual needs, not what fits inside the insurance based box.

If you’re wondering what type of frequency and format might be a good fit, I’m always happy to talk through your options.
